Abstract, Contemporary, Transitional. What's the difference?

Abstract.Contemporary.Transitional
I'm so confused, what's the difference?

Abstract Art is the leading style used in home and office decor.  Here is a great description of Abstract art: "art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures".  ( show one of our abstracts)

Contemporary Art is the art of today.  To be considered contemporary art it must have been created within the 21st century.  This style of art is a dynamic combination of materials, methods, concepts, and subjects that challenge traditional boundaries and defy easy definition.  Think of Andy Warhol Campbell soup can or the pop art graffiti style of Banksy.  (Show Banksy image of Monkey with headphones on)

Transitional Art is created through the use of contemporary materials,  updated finishes and the subtle manipulation of more traditional images.  Unlike abstract art Transitional art is clearly identifiable.  It could be a tree or a barn.  What makes it transitional is the bold use of sweeping colors and exaggerated lines.  Transitional  pieces take on a sophisticated look while maintaining a comfortable and identifiable feel.  Bold, accentuated forms and dynamic shapes drive this style of art.

To Recap:  Abstract Art is manipulated color with no identifiable image.  It leaves the entire piece to the imagination of the viewer.
Contemporary Art takes known images and puts them into a new perspective.  It must also have been created in this century.
Transitional Art exaggerates known subjects by using sweeping strokes and bold colors.  The images are large so a large piece may only contain a single tree or barn.
