Shadowboxes: Used most commonly for preservation of 3 Dimensional items. Including: collages, sculptures, key chains, musical instruments, clothing, banners, & more. 
Floater Frames: Only used on stretched canvas, these frames are screwed into the back of the canvas, so the front reveals a painting as though it's "floating" in the piece. Quite a modern and very elegant look.
