Scanning & Art Reproduction FAQ
Why should I scan my artwork instead of taking a photo?
While in this day and age with smart phones rapidly. improving the quality of their cameras, you still will not achieve the same detail you would get out of a scan. When photographing, there will always be a distance between your phone and the piece of artwork, the further the distance, the lower the quality.
Artwork lays directly on our scanning bed to allow for the most amount of detail possible.
How much does it cost to scan?
Our set up fee is $75 for large items and $25 for smaller items. This is a one time fee, so that means after the first scan, if you choose to reprint the same image, you do not need to pay the set up fee again, and you will also receive a digital copy of the scanned image.
Can you blow up the image I have?
In many cases, yes! As you see from one of our examples above, we have the ability to blow up images that are smaller. Our scanner will scan each image to a high resolution to allow for us to expand the image and make it larger.
However something to consider is there will always be limits. While we can take a somewhat small piece and enlarge it to a somewhat big image, we can't guarantee the same quality of (i.e.) a postage stamp sized image to be blown up to a 24"x36" image and look perfectly crisp and clean.
I have an image I want to scan, but I also want to make some edits, can you do that?
The options are endless, we can do virtually anything you'd like! If you have a damaged image you would like to restore, see our photo restoration page for more information! If you'd like to crop, add text, change the color, make a sepia tone, saturate, desaturate, & more! Have a specific project? contact us to get in touch directly with our designer on staff to discuss options for your project!
